About the founder

"Malaika Foundation is my dream and life mission"

In honor of our mascot, Malone

Malone was the first dog I rescued in Zanzibar. It was truly love at first sight. When I found her, she was undernourished and appeared to have been abused, which broke my heart. Despite her rough past, there was something in her eyes that spoke of resilience and hope. Her journey from a frightened, neglected dog to a vibrant, happy companion is a testament to the power of love and care. I am grateful for every moment we share for two wonderful years. However, everything changed when I discovered that she had a benign tumor. I rescheduled another surgery after a first attempt that didn't go as planned. Shortly after undergoing a second unsuccessful surgery, she passed away in my arms. This remains one of the most heart-wrenching and traumatizing moments of my life. The feeling of helplessness and despair is something I carry with me every day. Learning to cope with this loss has been a difficult journey, and even today, I struggle with the weight of grief. The impact of such a loss is profound, and a daily reminder and motivation for Malaika foundation to keep taking care of animals in need in honor of Malone.
